The 21st century is an era of globalisation, urbanisation and is information-oriented. We have witnessed the growth of cities and the rise of the middle class, and the arrival of an information and digital-oriented society; economically we have moved from manufacturing to service industries, and all of these have completely changed the economic development of today and of the future.
In such a new age, we face numerous challenges and yet we also see new hope. Most importantly, we need to find our position. We need a clear economic strategic direction roadmap to enable us to see clearly the current situation and development of the economic trend so that we can become more competitive and create new industries, new economic developments and new employment opportunities.
Taking all these into consideration, MCA has established 10 focus groups, each concentrating on a sector and participated by talents and professionals of related fields. Under the leadership of MCA Youth, these focus groups will map out an Economic Strategic Direction Roadmap and to create new hope for the Chinese communities in this new era. The 10 focus groups are Modern Agriculture, Neo-urbanisation, Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Wood-based Industry, New Frontiers, Information Technology & Green Technology, Small Traders, Financing, Logistics and Tourism.
Nevertheless, MCA Logistics Focus Group has always put great importance on the good ties built with various groups which includes the government agencies, industry players, community groups, youth based organisation and the professionals.
As such, we have decided to organise a talk on the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) in order to disseminate the information effectively to all relevant parties. In addition, we also hope to hear your opinion and to build greater ties with you through this platform. The said talk will be officiated by MCA National Youth Chairman cum Deputy Minister of Education Malaysia, YB Senator Chong Sin Woon. Furthermore the talk is also supported by Port Klang Authority (PKA), Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ), Associated Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM), Federation of Malaysian Freight Forwarders (FMFF) and etc. Further details of the talk are as follows:-
Date : 25th June 2016 (Saturday)
Time : 10.00 AM – 1.00 PM (Registration/Refreshment: 9.00 AM)
Venue : Suite 1, Mezzanine Floor, Wisma MCA, Kuala Lumpur
This will be the first talk on SOLAS after its trial run which begins on 15th June 2016. Therefore we
hope that industry players can learn more on SOLAS and be able to work efficiently with the
government agencies through this talk.
As such, we will like to extend this invitation to you to attend the above talk and let us join our hands
together to build a better Malaysia. Attached herewith the reply slip and kindly return it to the MCA
Youth Secretariat by 23rd June 2016. For further enquiries, kindly contact the secretariat at 03-2203 3866.
