INVITATION TO SERC CONSULTATIVE PANEL DISCUSSION

We are pleased to inform you that the SERC Sdn. Bhd. (Socio-Economic Research Centre) will organize a “Consultative Panel Discussion on Minimum Wage and Mandatory Retirement Age for Private Sector” on 12th July 2012. Details of the discussion are as follows:

The objectives of the Consultative Panel Discussion are as follows:
1) Minimum Wage Order
To discuss issues and recommendations regarding:-
• Minimum wage that has a direct impact on the rising cost of doing business
• The gazetting of the minimum wage order on 1st July 2012 – implementation issues
• The definition of wages and component of wages under Section 2 Employment Act 1955
• The implementation should be flexible and differ by sector, region and location
2) Minimum Retirement Age Bill 2012
To discuss issues and recommendations regarding:-
• The minimum Retirement Age Bill 2012
• The review of “Hiring” and “Firing” law
We have invited Mr. K. Kesavan a/l Karuppiah, Principal Assistant Director, Department of Labour, Peninsular Malaysia, Ministry of Human Resource as the resource person to give a briefing and then participate in the round-table discussion on the above subject.
